And the most controversial award for the night:
Next Rated Reekado Banks
All the controversy and brouhaha over this award calls to mind a joke about the 2015 elections.
A comedian said Ibos sat at home and didn't go to cast their votes saying, "nna Jonathan abanyego." In the end when the results were announced the very same Ibos were shocked.
A nomination means voting, the fans of a nominee are expected to vote for that nominee. If for any reason they do not, or are complacent as in the elections, they should not be surprised when that nominee doesn't win.
This is a fact of life Nigerian acts and fans seem to forget. How many 'fans' of Lil Kesh can boast of having voted for him, they most likely took his winning for granted.
Heck even the Grammys which is keenly contested requires voting rather than 'siddon look'.
So please people, next time a nomination is given for an award, endeavour to go online and cast your votes, not complaining when your act doesn't win.
Looking forward to great music this year 2016, Nigerian music is IT!
